British Legion

Oxford Diecast joined forces with The Royal British Legion to support their Poppy Appeal in 1999. A set of four vehicles were featured in some of the leading Daily newspapers including the Daily Express, Sunday Telegraph and Sunday Post.  One vehicle was offered for a nominal postage amount. When the Bullnose and Model T were purchased for £15, which included a £3.00 donation to the British Legion a bus is thrown in free of charge.

Poppy Day is a day to remind us of all those who gave their lives in the cause of freedom in World War II and other conflicts.

A poem by John McCrae. Thanks also to Gerry Savage

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses , row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders Field
