Royal Bucks |
| Serving the local community for over 50 years
This traditional old laundry based in Chesham and High Wycombe served the local community with approximately 25 vehicles consisting of Morris - Dennis - Commer - Austin and employing around 300 people within the area; which included the laundry-man and his van boy collecting the laundry one week and delivering it back in those beautiful hamper style wicker baskets the next. Dating from approximately 1920 to its closedown in the late sixties, the Royal Bucks Laundry was an institution. Its beautiful Dutch girl logo made the vans an eye catcher all over the area. Sadly both laundries and their buildings are no longer in Chesham or High Wycombe, but as a poignant memorial, the original ceramic tiled emblem of the Dutch girl has been built into the wall of the new building where the Royal Bucks Laundry in High Wycombe once stood. Oxford Die-Cast have had this plaque photographed for our members and on the reverse is a special certificate dedicated to the laundry. The edition is just 5000 pieces. Of the 5000 pieces, 2500 are to be offered to the Chesham and High Wycombe community. The special coloured certificate is limited to 2500 and will be distributed with members only. |
