Bovril |
![]()
The Bovril name originates from bo (latin for ox)
and vril from Vrilya, the name given to 'life force' in Bulwer Lytton's
novel The Coming Race. The company was founded by a Scot, John Lawson
Johnston who had started producing tinned beef in Canada, he returned to London
and set up a factory and began selling this much loved beefy drink. Our Bullnose was offered back in 1998 along with the B38 Bovril Bus and the offer appeared on the top of the lid with a peel of label. Each vehicle cost £2.99 plus 1 token or £5.00 along with 2 tokens. The offer closed on 31st December 1999
