The 'Champion' with a cover price of 3d was a firm favourite when it first appeared in January 1922.  Again aimed at boys and similar to most comics of its day, featured coloured cover front and back with black and white inside. In total, 1729 issues were printed until its cessation in 1955 - thirty three years later.

There was some confusion with the last publication as the centre fold told its readers to start buying 'Lion' from next week on, but other editions advised readers to get 'Tiger'.  We have no such problem however - our 'Lion' vehicle is model no. CC005 and was released a while ago!  Back to 'Champion'. It also had a few of those familiar super heroes including 'Buckaroo Bill Hardy' who was the cowboy champ of the 'Double Diamond' ranch and the toughest guy around. His sidekicks were Tommy Turk along with Giraffe Jackson. Oh and by the way, Buckaroos horse was called 'Red Flame'! Can you believe it! Here 'Red Flame' - go 'Red Flame' oh dear!
