THE HOTSPUR

Over 2000 copies of it were produced since it was introduced in September 1933. In 1957 it changed its name to the New Hotspur before it finally left circulation in 1981. I’m told that if you have the first issue that it could reach as much as £75 - so start looking in the attic you never know what you may find. Here’ s a selection of the Hotspur characters that you could find in the comic in 1961:
The Beacon is Lit - The story of 'Thunder Chief' - the Indian Chief who guarded the wagon trains of the West.
Lonely Larry, Castaway, The Races of Lightning Logan, Lanky Franky - He meddles, and muddles.
The Cat Street Kids, Dozy Danny - Football star in the making. Scrapper Dent - The Flying Fireman and Dynamite Jim

Our Bullnose is based on a strip in 1950 about Big Axe Nolan. He’d been captured by the Mystery Rider and forced to work in a stolen Gold Mine - doesn’t sound to bad does it!
