Roy Rogers |
| Born Leonard Franklin Slye in Cincinnati on November 5th 1911 he
later became famous as Roy Rogers “King of the Cowboys”. He
was accompanied by his horse Trigger and Bullet the Wonder Dog. From the
series came a whole host of spin offs including comic strips and in the UK
annuals were released. The first one we’ve seen came in 1951 (although there may
be earlier – does anyone know?) and the last in 1963. Our model is based on the
1955 release and shows Roy Rogers with Trigger. The
annual cost 7/6, but today you could pick it up for £10/£12. Other famous cowboys also appeared in their own comic strips such as Tex Ritter, Bill Elliot and of course Hopalong Cassidy. |
