Turf

The First of the ciggi liveries ‘Turf’. The brand ‘Turf’ was available in the 50s with packaging in sliding sleeve form 10s and 20s, and came untipped - filter tipped cigarettes became popular in later years. As cigarette cards had been withdrawn in the war to save paper - ‘Turf’ came up with a nice idea! The back sleeve of the 10 pack featured 1 picture from a series, with 2 pictures on the 20 pack. A series usually consisted of 50 cards, and were always printed in one colour - blue!

Some notable series included film stars in caricature form, aero planes, and famous dog breeds which were released in 1952. They were then cut out by the collector and displayed in one’s own album. We are not aware of an album ever being produced.
