Senior Service

One of the oldest manufactured brands on the British Market today! It rivalled ‘John Players’ for sales and was first introduced in the U.K. by a company called Pattreiouxs in 1925, who later sold to Gallaher, and became one of the biggest selling brands in the 1920’s. The pack is unchanged (well, only minutely) to this day!

‘Senior Service’ like Players was given a nautical title with ships and sailors respectively. Originally sold in 10’s and 20’s they are now only available in packs of 20’s untipped.

Originally coded 186G

FURTHER DETAILS

I'm Ian Jones and 45. I, m sure they had a T V jingle which went something like "Change to Senior Service tipped and get more taste for half a crown" It is very vague memory in my head. Does anybody remember this jingle? If anybody knows can you kindly E Mail me.
Cheers Ian.

I collect old enamel badges and like to research their history.
I have one that is the same as the Senior Service logo and is in the form of a cap badge with two lugs at the back.
I have trawled so many sites looking for information but have found nothing! So here I am hoping that someone will either
tell me that the badge was a promotional item or identify its origin.
The maker's stamp dates it to between 1962 and 1967 but that's all I can find on it.
My Auntie used to smoke S.S. and would let me have one when I was young & skint, like smoking the funnel of a steamship!!!
Many thanks.
John oldgit.
