Yet another cigarette with a nautical theme! Could it be that sailors, being stuck at sea and all that, had nothing better to do than smoke? Mind you, nearly everybody smoked didn't they? It was norm - Airmen (there is a brand as well) soldiers, marines, etc. We don't recall any brands for the latter though!

Everybody enjoyed a good puff, it was social, macho and no place was banned - the non-smoker was the odd one, but not now, it has all swung round.

Anchor was a tipped lower priced brand and manufactured by John Players. Incidentally, it is the last cigarette vehicle to be manufactured in the UK.
