Four Square CIG 036 ( featured on a V.W.). Now there’s a brand of
distinction and one of the more expensive cigarettes available in
filter tip, plain or cork tip and in 10’s and 20’s. Manufactured by
George Dobie and Sons from Paisely in Scotland who had been making
cigarettes etc. since 1809. The ‘Four Square’ brand guaranteed to be entirely free from
artificial flavouring and to be manufactured from perfectly mature
leaf. The filter tip ‘Four Square’ claimed that the special filter
construction made ‘Four Square’ unexcelled in effectively giving a
cool clean and satisfying smoke. Strong words and certainly not useable today! The 20 pack price
was 2s11d (12p) and printed on some packs.
