| The club was formed in 1872 when members from the local cricket
club met for the purpose of starting a football team. Back in those days team
line-ups often consisted of up to 17 players. Known locally as the Robins they
hit rock bottom in 1966 finishing 92nd in the league, but since then they have
reached the quarter finals of both the FA Cup and League Cup.
