The Glorious Glosters

We’ve had so many requests to release this model that I’m surprised it’s taken Taff so long. It was at the time of the release of the Korean War model last year that we found many members had links to this regiment.
Chinese bugles sounded as another assault on the British Line began. The ammunition was running out and each man had only five rounds left. Suddenly a new sound could be heard, that of Drum Major Philip Buss playing the Last Post. He followed with every call in his repertoire, with one exception ‘Retreat’, and the Chinese fell silent. The Glosters held the main invasion route around Imjin River and had been asked to hold the line with 800 men against 27,000 Chinese. Commanded by Lt Col James Carne the task was of David and Goliath proportions.
Other infantry battalions including Belgians, Filipinos and Puerto Ricans tried to rescue the Glosters but were driven back. They held the line for four heroic days, and 58 Glosters were killed with 522 taken prisoner. For his outstanding part in the action Colonel Carne was awarded the Victoria Cross. There are many books about the Glosters and it’s worth picking one up as the stories that are told bring tears to your eyes.Order Military Range Vehicles
