| The Co-operative Society history goes back to the 1800's when retailers came together. By buying as a unit they were able to take advantage of their combined strength. It opened factories to provide the co-ops with goods and eventually opened banks and supplied insurance services in support of their operations. Their focus was always to serve the needs of their ordinary members. |
