The Royal Navy and Royal Air Force acquired and maintained smaller Land Rover fleets. They were used for communications, liaison, personnel transport and airfield tractor duties. The British Army tested the 80-inch (2,000 mm) Series I Land Rover almost as soon as it was launched in 1948. Some of these were initially modified, even creating an 81 inch wheelbase. |
