War Cry

It was back in 1865 that William Booth, a methodist preacher, funded the Christian Mission in London’s East End to help feed and help the poor. A few years later it was reorganised along military lines with the preachers known as officers and Booth as the General - it then became known as the Salvation Army. Booth sought to bring an informal atmosphere into his services with joyous singing, instrumental music and the clapping of hands. He was deeply influenced by his wife who believed that women were equal to men and she promoted the idea of women preachers. She was also deeply concerned with the low wages paid to workers and soon the Salvation Army opened its own match factory paying twice the usual wage. The first issue of the War Cry was published back in 1879 which makes 2004 the 125th anniversay. So to celebrate we are releasing a special Model A to commemorate the event.Order
