Scottish liveried models are always popular with our collectors of haulage vehicles and this very modern well-detailed John Mitchell lorry, with its pristine, almost clinical livery, will prove no exception.

The John Mitchell road haulage fleet consists of around 110 vehicles, just under a hundred tractor units and 230 trailers, all operating from their Grangemouth base in Stirlingshire. The mix features curtainsides - as our example - flatbeds and skeletal trailers, as well as powder tankers to cope with dry loads. The company is still family owned, established in 1956 by John Mitchell, and now managed by Iain Mitchell. The company has won a series of awards over the years, the most recent being the Transport News - Scottish Fleet of the Year 2006. At the same time, Transport News also awarded Iain Mitchell a personal tribute - the Scottish Road Haulage Personality of the Year.
