George V

George V was born in 1865 and was the second son of King Edward VII. His older brother. Prince Albert was due to become king but he died in 1892. George succeeded his father as king on 6 May 1910 and was crowned on 22nd June 1911. It was a rainy day and thousands of people lined the route to watch the Coronation. He married Princess Mary of Teck, who had been his brothers fiancee, in 1893.
This style of bus would have lined the route at the time of the Coronation. The Birds Custard advertising shown on the back was specially produced for the event.
