RT007 Lloyd Loom - CLICK FOR HI-RES

Lloyd Loom

In 1917 the American Marshall B Lloyd patented a new system for the manufacture of wicker furniture. He then applied it to the production of high quality, highly innovative mass-market furniture. Called Lloyd Loom it was made from twisted woven fibre - a form of wicker, it was paper. Between 1920 and 1940, Lusty’s in Great Britain and Lloyd’s in America produced more than 1000 different designs - from large settees to small wastepaper baskets - that furnished homes, hotels, ocean liners and even airships. We spotted this bus and spoke to Geoffrey Lusty who is still very much involved with the business. He also sent us a few pictures of the bus. Originally used by London Transport it was sold to W. Lusty & Sons in 1954 where it was used as a mobile showroom before being scrapped in the early 60’s. We thought it would be nice to reproduce the model and here’s our latest edition to the range of RT’s. Like the last few releases it has the painted radiator.
