A Coventry Transport Regent on route 2 to Radford, but a thousand years ago it was a very different place. It was no more than a hamlet of a few scattered dwellings. And yet, just three of four hundred years later, it was reckoned to be the fourth city in England after London, Bristol and York. The wealth of the city was built on wool both at home and abroad. Such was the wealth of the city and the confidence that it was decided to encircle the city with a wall. With this wealth came all the trappings of success, tradesmen, monasteries and fine buildings.
