VW020 Arthur Askey Edition 2,000

Arthur Bowden Askey was born in Liverpool on 6th June 1900. He was 5 foot 3 inches and coined many catchphrases like "Hello Playmates and "Doesn't it make you want to spit?", but his first "Ay-Thang-Yew" were on everybody's lips during the 50’s and the phrase passed into the English language. He continued to work into his eighties and made one of his last appearances at The Royal Variety Show. Following this he suffered from circulatory problems in his legs, which ultimately led him to having both amputated - he died in 1982.
