This letter was received from Mr John B Parkes in March 2007

  Dear Michael,

I have received my latest delivery from you of Model No. GR024 - Royal Ordnance which is up to your usual standard of production. However I noticed when the model arrived that the name of the Corps on the van was Royal Ordnance Corps instead of the correct name of Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC). The lack of space on the body of the model is no reason for this omission as I notice from Model No. GR010 Royal Army Service Corps (RASC) their name is printed in full.

Having served my National Service from 1950 - 1952 with the RAOC I feel rather disappointed that this item of memorabilia is incorrect.

Your article in the Globe magazine about the Corps was most interesting and we always translated the motto as "To The Thunderer His Guns" and we supplied everything except Fuel, Food and Fodder. The other interesting piece of information is that the origin of the badge comes from the fact that in one of the first deliveries made when the Corps were formed, they supplied cannons but the cannon balls which went with them were too large!! They have never been allowed to forget this as you will see from the badge.

Yours sincerely,

John B. Parkes

P.S.  Will you be producing a model to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Scout Association??
