In 1913 a shiny new fleet of 75 Kroger trucks took to the streets delivering groceries from Kroger stores. These trucks sent quite a few horses out to pasture, replacing Kroger's horse and wagon teams. This was one of many progressive moves made by Bernard Henry Kroger, the founder of Kroger Stores.

It all began with this feisty, driven young man who, with just $372 of his own savings, plus his partner's $350, opened his first grocery store in 1883 on a crowded street near the Ohio River waterfront. Kroger turned this business into one of the remarkable success stories in America. What he lacked in cash, he made up for in determination, outselling the competition by sticking to his simple philosophy: "Customers should get exactly what they pay for."

Within  a year Kroger bought out his partner and opened his second store. At the time, he was among the first grocers to use the newspaper to advertise his wares. In other innovations, kroger became the first grocery company to operate its own bakeries, and in 1904 was the first company to sell meat and groceries under one roof. By the time Kroger rolled out the fleet of Model -T-Trucks, his chain of stores had greatly expanded, and that was just the beginning.

Between 1998 and 2002 Oxford Diecast supplied a variety of models to Kroger of the USA which have been used on a number of promotions from cereals to pickles.
