WHEELS

There are various wheels used on the die-cast models some of which have been changed for a variety of reasons. It may be of interest to some members to note the format of these numbers. As the roots of our manufacturing go back to Corgi and previously Mettoy we have followed their coding rules with a few exceptions. The SA prefix signifies that the part is a Sub Assembly made up of the axle, tyre and hub.

Wire Spoke Wheel Part Number SA2518 wheelwire.jpg (3451 bytes)

This was introduced on the Bullnose in 1993. It has been produced in the following colours:

Gold    Silver    Black     Red     Blue     Green

Six Spoke Wheel Part Number SA2580 wheel6.jpg (2520 bytes)

This was introduced on the Model T in 1995. However it was felt that an eight spoke wheel would be better suited and therefore it was replaced in late 1996. Due to stock levels you will find it on a variety of models up until 1999. Stocks of the gold variant were lower and therefore it is unlikely you will find this on models produced after early 1997. The wheel was reintroduced in 1999 on the Model A.

It has been produced in the following colours:

    Gold    Black    Red     Blue

Eight Spoke Wheel Part Number SA 2586 wheel8old.jpg (2481 bytes)
Two types of this have been produced. Initially a separate wheel was produced for the Thornycroft Bus. This was a low volume life tool and therefore once its day had come the Model T and Thornycroft were unified. This wheel has been produced in the following colours:

    Gold    Black

You will only find the gold variety on the Model T. The Thornycroft wheel was introduced in 1996 and withdrawn in 1997. The Model T was introduced in 1996
