The latest livery on Oxford's Ford 400E Van is one that appeared some time ago in both 1:43 and 1:76 scale and it looks equally good scaled right down to British N scale (an amazing 2.7cm in length), complete with all the same detail, too. Registered 4171 FT, our little service van is painted in sky blue and pale orange with detailed graphics in the side panel promoting the Fordson Super Service. The Fordson Farming crest is printed on the side and rear doors and the Ford Thames name also appears in the centre of the flat front between the windscreen and the grille, as well as above the rear number plate.

The Ford 400E was made by Ford UK, serving as a popular small commercial vehicle between its launch in 1957 until 1965 when it was superseded by the Ford Transit. Also known as the Thames 15 cwt, the 400E was a very versatile vehicle which Ford also made as a pickup and minibus, as well as the basic utility van. Around 187,000 were produced during its lifetime which endorses its appeal to a wide range of end users.

Another lovely little model.

This was probably the final model I purchased for my N gauge railway layout as I have pretty well all the suitable ones now. I have over 20 of these. Looks great parked in front of the tractor shed ! There are several more that are only available in 76 scale that I would really like if only they were available in N gauge.
