Commercial Cars Ltd was set up in Clapham Road, Lavender Hill, London in 1905 and became a well-respected maker of quality trucks. The firm was taken over by Humber in 1926, so when the Rootes brothers acquired Hillman and Humber in the following year, they became the owners of Commer as well. Commer produced vans, lorries, buses and miliary vehicles as part of the Rootes group, including the famous Superpoise and TS3 trucks, as well as Commando buses.
