Pagani Automobili SpA is an Italian sports car maker, founded in 1992 by Argentinian Horacio Pagani near Modena. in 1983 Pagani moved from Argentina to work at Lamborghini, where he worked on the LMA Jeep, Jalpa, Countach Evoluzione and Golf Caddy. Pagani left to set up his own design consultancy, Modena Design, making carbon fibre composites for the motor industry. Though he founded Pagani Automobili in 1992, it was 1999 before the Zonda C12 supercar was launched, powered by a mid-mounted Mercedes-Benz V12 engine. It was followed by the Zonda F, Zonda Cinque Roadster and Zonda R variants. In 2009 the C9 was announced, but it was in 2011 that the Pagani Huayra was launched as the successor to the Pagani Zonda. It had a 720hp six litre AMG engine.
