This is a replica of the bright red G-ACSS 'Grosvenor House', flown by C W A Scott and Tom Campbell Black. This Comet was given its name by its owner Mr A O Edwards, who was Manager of the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London at the time.

De Havilland Delight!

This is an excellent little model, accurate and well finished, which perfectly captures the aerodynamic beauty of the original aircraft. It was also very nicely and carefully packaged in a sturdy presentation box - which I wasn’t expecting - a nice bonus. I’m very pleased with the DH88 and it’s now displayed with a few examples of its arguably more famous descendant, the Wooden Wonder that is the Mosquito. One tiny caveat which doesn’t detract from the model is the fact that as I’m displaying the Comet “wheels up”, I found the wheel covers under the engine nacelles were a loose fit, but a judicious application of a tiny bit of ‘reusable tacky fixative’ has solved the problem! All in all, a very worthwhile addition to anyone’s collection.
