This is the first release of the newly tooled Ford Transit MkI cab with its characteristic Beavertail rear body. This type of recovery truck operated until around 1980. During that time, it was the chosen rescue truck used by both the RAC and AA on the roads of Britain. Wearing the authentic RAC livery, use it on your own 1960s - 1980s diorama.

Had a Good Time Shopping at Oxford Diecast

As background, let me say that living in the US, finding OO gauge trains and properly scaled British style vehicles for my layout is very hard. I rely on vendors doing business via the internet for virtually all my purchases. I have been involved with OO for approximately 20 years and, in that time, I have found Oxford Diecast vehicles to be among the most reasonably priced and well made. I love them. I chose the RAC flatbed because I'm partial to vehicles that add both color and "British" flavor to my layout. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you much more because as of this writing, I have given this vehicle and number of others that I bought to my wife who will "sell" them to family members needing presents for grandpa. They will then re-appear under our tree at Christmas. I can tell you that the Oxford website is very easy to navigate and shop in. With the closure of Hatton's, I found myself going right to the source for these items. My order was promptly processed and sent on its way. I was also very pleased with your Royal Mail which provided me with a tracking number but then sent me almost daily emails telling me where my package was. They even updated me once the package was handed over to the US Mail and pinpointed the day it would be delivered. Spot on. A pleasant experience all around. My only negative comment would be that I was somewhat disappointed to see a number of items I was interested in were marked "Out of Stock". Hopefully that is only a temporary situation and it does give me an excuse to go back and do more shopping. :)
