Oxford Diecast Wolseley 6/80 Green 1:76

The Wolseley 6/80 was one of two post war models which Lord Nuffield’s Wolseley Motors produced between 1948 and 1954.  The 6/80 was the successor to the pre-war Wolseley 18/25, which also features in the Oxford series of classic cars of the era.  In real life, the car was classed as a 4-door saloon and featured a six-cylinder engine. Built in the traditional style, it had a pre-war style radiator and the long, high bonnet was centre  hinged to access the engine. A split windscreen, small oval rear window and a brief but faint nod to traditionally styled running boards completed the picture, right down to the flying W symbol at the edge of the bonnet. These external features are all present on the 1:76 scale Oxford model, as are the replica interior leather seats with ‘polished wood’ dashboard.

Decorated in deep green, right down to the wheels,  with contrasting silver trim.  It is registered 266 UXG. The interior seating is moulded in dark green, as is the dashboard top with a rich brown dashboard front and steering wheel.

The ‘six eighty’ was superseded by the Wolseley 6/90 but proved a highly popular saloon in its time with production reaching 25,281 at the time it was withdrawn.  It was also used extensively within the Police forces of the day.
