Oxford Diecast Land Rover Scale Model Vehicles
Oxford Diecast produces a massive range of Land Rover diecast scale model vehicles at different scales, but what makes this such a popular vehicle is the heritage associated with the brand.
After the War Rover needed to use the vast Solihull factory for new vehicle, so they planned a 'British Jeep'. The first Land Rover ws launched in 1948 with registration number HUE 166, and by 1950 almost 2,500 Land Rovers were already in service. The Series II was introduced in 1958, and the Series IIA in 1961. In 1971 the 750,000th Land Rover was sold. The Series III was launched in 1972. From 1991 the traditional range was called the Defender. The Air Portable Land Rover had a half tonne capacity. In 1962 the Forward Control Land Rover appeared. The two door Range Rover was revealed in 1970, with the four door version launched in 1982. In 1994 the new Range Rover P38 was launched, and the original Range Rover was renamed the Classic. In 2002 the Range Rover Third Generation (P38a) was launched. In 1989 the three-door Land Rover Discovery was launched, the five-door appearing the following year. In 1999 the Discovery 2 was launched, followed in 2004 by the Discovery 3. The Range Rover Sport was introduced in 2005. The Freelander was rnLaunched in 1997, quickly becoming Europe's biggest selling 4x4 vehicle. followed in 2006 by the Freelander 2. rnIn 1966 Rover merged with Leyland Group, and in 1968 became part of British Leyland. British Aerospace bought the car division in 1988, selling 'Rover Group' to BMW in 1994. rnIn 2000 BMW sold Land Rover to Ford, who put their Land Rover and Jaguar divisions up for sale in 2007. In 2008 Tata Motors of India bought Jaguar-Land Rover. In 2015 the Land Rover range consisted of the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Discovery, Discovery Sport and Defender.
