A collectors piece from history, the Ford Consul Green in 1:43 scale. Produced 15 years ago originally to accompany a book to celebrate Corgis 50th anniversary, which was to be produced by our great friend Sue Pownall. Her edition of the book sadly never released, although some of these models were released into the trade at the time. We have managed to get our hands on some of these increasingly sought after models for you to add to collection.
The original Corgi Ford Consul (200) was manufactured in Swansea on the same Industrial Park that we are based today (Fforestfach). At its peak 3,500 workers were employed by Mettoy pumping out Corgi vehicles day after day.
The last Corgi vehicle ever designed and built in the UK was the Toyota Celica – designed by TAFF who with great sadness closed the factory in early 1992.
A little known fact is that over 1.1 billion Corgi/Husky models have been manufactured. Who knows what value these will have in years to come….
